Medical Company Rumored To Be Bringing Medical Offices, 700 Jobs To Lake Mary

Florida Blue is reportedly bringing a related entity to Lake Mary with a plan for medical offices, 700 jobs and more.

An affiliate company of the Florida health insurance giant has the partially completed, bank-owned Rinehart Place commercial development in Lake Mary under contract for purchase, sources said. That property is being marketed for sale for $7.9 million.

“Florida Health Care Plan, a wholly-owned subsidiary for Florida Blue, is performing a business ‘due diligence’ to determine whether it is feasible to purchase a property and establish a business in the Lake Mary area,” said Florida Blue spokesman Mark S. Wright. “Until that due diligence has been completed, Florida Blue is not making any plans for any other business undertakings.”

This news follows a report from earlier this month that an unnamed medical firm had the 174,000-square-foot Rinehart Place under contract to purchase. The firm planned to lease the main building space to shops and restaurants, and then use the back buildings as office space, news reports said.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville-based Florida Blue, last year was working on plans to create an accountable care organization (ACO) in South Florida.

ACOs combine health care providers with hospitals and insurance companies to save the government money and increase health care quality.
