What Is Florida’s Real Estate Future?

Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) annual statewide summit. Scheduled for June 12-13 at Walt Disney World’s Swan Resort in Orlando, the theme is “Moving Florida Forward.” Civic leaders and land use experts will discuss Florida’s economy, transit and infrastructure, capital markets, sustainability, and development trends. Bestselling novelist and award-winning journalist Carl Hiaasen is among the conference speakers. “ULI’s annual statewide summit is a must-attend conference for anyone doing business in Florida’s real estate sector,” says Eric Swanson, chairman of the 2014 Summit. “Our event will serve as a forum for sharing ideas, making new business connections and learning about the trends and data that are driving the market today.” What really makes this conference different? Some of the topics at the three-day conference are noteworthy—and so are the speakers. For example, Dr. Robert W. Burchell, a Rutgers University professor and one of the nation’s top economists, will discuss key points about Florida’s workforce and its impact in real estate. And Chris Leinberger of the Brookings Institution and ULI District Councils of Florida will discuss how to cater to the demands of the two largest demographic groups, Baby Boomers and Millennials. Other topics include: The Sharing Economy: Urban Cities Embracing Mass Transit and Less Parking; Workspaces of the Future; The State of Capital Markets; The Future of Residential Development; All Aboard: Moving People & Creating Places; Building a Mixed-Use Project While Creating a Community; and Investing in Your Career. Based on the conference sponsor list, industry heavy hitters see the value. Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, Akerman, Florida Trend, Greenberg Traurig, Gunster, Odebrecht, UCF Metro Center, Ashton Woods, Bilzin Sumberg, Holland & Knight, Minto, Schwartz Media Strategies, and VHB are conference sponsors. Source: GlobeSt. ]]>
