As Unicorp National Developments Inc. celebrates signing a lease deal for Central Florida’s first Trader Joe’s, there’s more coming down the pike.

In fact, another big deal is expected to get inked sometime this week.

Unicorp principal Chuck Whittall said Ruth’s Chris Steak House is expected to sign a lease this week to move from its existing standalone restaurant in Winter Park Village to Unicorp’s new $22 million Winter Park Lakeside development.

Ruth’s Chris representatives couldn’t be reached for comment prior to publication.

The new restaurant space would be on Lake Killarney and would be either 2,500 or 3,000 square feet of space, showed a project site plan.

Winter Park Lakeside is a 32,000-square-foot lakefront retail center next door to Hillstone restaurant — formerly Houstons — on U.S. Highway 17-92. The development also will include boutique retail, such as a paddleboat store, fitness center and a Marilyn Monroe Day Spa, a concept created by former Walt Disney World executive Al Weiss and Niki Bryan, a longtime operator of spas on Disney properties.

Whittall said he plans to break ground on the project this summer. A general contractor hasn’t yet been named for the project, but Whittall said he’s in talks with St. Petersburg-based Scherer Construction, LLC, which is working on Unicorp’s I-Drive Live.
